Cards from a Basic Grey kit

I used a card kit from Basic Grey Cappella papers to make these 8 cards. It was fun and of course I had to embellish and add some layers and peel off borders and flowers. Very quick cards and I'm using them for birthdays and anniversaries instead of all the wedding sayings that came with them. I love this new Cappella paper, the colors are so pretty. It also comes in 6x6 and 12x12 papers as well.

Nestability card

After seeing the tutorial on this blog I had to try this. I love it!! It was a lot of fun and very easy to follow her directions. I used a Crafty secret sticker, some pretty prima flowers, Martha Stewart punches and a Me and Carrie Lou saying.

Some new techniques

After using Selma's tutorial and this one and watching a video on Stamp TV I have been trying a few new things. The bird and butterfly card is a shadow box with reverse nestabilities in the center. Crafty secrets stamps, MS around the card border punch. The large butterfly is also a MS punch. The red one is using the reverse nestability and Our Daily Bread design stamps. Nestabilities used for the center and a MS punch for the sentiment.

FTTC68, Flourishes Timeless Tuesday

Flourishes timeless tuesday is about home made flowers, I did not make this flower but the larger part is homemade by a gal in New Zealand or Australia. I think they are beautifully made from silk and lace and I added the center flower. Cherry blossoms stamp from Flourishes and colored with copics.

Midnight madness challenge 55

Priscilla's midnight madness blog sketch this week and I tweaked it a little. This is a Father's day card for my DH. I used a combination of stamps from Stampscapes, Sutter, Beeswax and copics to color and airbrush it. Nestabilities labels 4 to layer it. Copper mirror card run thru the cuttlebug and some gold peel offs to accent it.

Tim Holtz class

I took a wonderful class at my LSS yesterday and it was all about distressing with Tim Holtz papers and products. We had a great time and it was so much fun to learn about all of this. I love the box and the techniques will transfer to cards very easily.

Our challenge at ODBD was make the saying the Focal point of the card. I thought the Tim Holtz papers fit perfectly. I used spellbinders on the ovals, labels 4 and tags. The doodles and sides are an EK punch

Frame it

The monthly challenge on Split Coast was to "frame it". This is a new Sarah Kay image colored with copics, spellbinders frame and I did another one in gold mirror card, sliced it in half and put it behind the top and bottom, added some prma flowers and pearls.

MMSC54 and Crafty secrets

Priscilla's midnight madness challenge sketch this week called for lots of buttons which I don't have but the strips of gems seem to work. I used a pretty Cotton scrap from
Crafty Secrets for the image, trimmed in zig zag copper peel off borders and a satin butterfly and prima rose over some ribbon. cuttlebug background on gold mirror card.

Flourishes timeless tuesday

Our Challenge this week over at Flourishes blog was to use chipboard. This K&Co piece was in a package I had. I used the background stamp and the roses from Flourishes, colored with copics. Some peel off roses and pink pearls to finish.

Elements of Style

Several years ago Stampin Up went "cutesy" and our huge parties that we use to have stopped. When I saw this new set I knew I had to have it, finally something adult and elegant again. There is also a very pretty bird in this set but he didn't fit on this card quite right. I can only hope this trend continues with Stampin UP.

Flourishes challenges this week

The challenges over at Flourishes this week were to use a picture and the other challenge was to "make it manly" so I used this scrapbook piece from Thomas Kinkaid and the sentiment from Flourishes fit so well.

It's a Disco party over at Prsicillas

Priscialla's midnight madness is having a huge party. Come and join in the fun!!! I chose this fancy party dress from my old Me and Carrie Lou stamps and jazzed it up with lots of glitter, even though the scan doesn't show it. Some peel off additions like the purse and flowers are from K&Co. The little shoes are something from Michaels. Flower is from Prima and the peel off corners and gems are from Michaels also. Copics to color it and I cut all the pieces out, added some pearls to finish it.

A week of reflection

This has been a difficult week and a week of reflection on what's important in life. This beautiful young women died this week after lying in a coma for the past 13+ years. She was only 34 but had celebrated her 21st birthday a little too much and a tragic accident occured on her way home that night. My heart goes out to her parents and what they have gone through over these past years. I have 25 and 26 year old sons and as frustrated as I can get sometimes when they don't take care of things on "my time schedule" LOL I had to stop and think how lucky I am to have them alive, and healthy. My Mother's day present from them was having them here on Thursday and they did all kinds of wonderful things for me, like cleaning out the garage and lifting and carrying lots of heavy things up and down the steps etc for me. It was a wonderful day and of course it meant lots of free food and leftovers for them to take home and have for the next couple of weeks. It was a time to count my blessings and try to remember what's important in the whole scheme of things. Happy Mother's day to all of you!!
